Reference Group

As School Advisory Councils play an important role in the governance framework of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) a MACS Board-approved Manual for School Advisory Councils is desirable to inform schools of the base line expectations for all School Advisory Council operating in MACS governed schools.

The Manual would include those policies that impact on the activities of the SAC and would be provided to all members of each School Advisory Council as part of their induction.

To ensure that the Manual is practical and speaks of the lived experience in schools and parishes, it would be informed by the work of a Reference Group comprised of principals, priests and parents.

A Terms of Reference for the work of the Reference Group has been written to identify the shared goal and is available here.

Expression of interest (EOI) in being a part of the reference group can submitted here by 31 March 2021.

MACS School Advisory Council Manual

Parish priests and principals of MACS-governed schools are expected to make themselves familiar with the Draft Manual for School Advisory Councils in preparation for feedback submissions to the reference group

The Draft Manual for School Advisory Councils in all MACS-governed schools is available here.

It is expected that a final Manual would be ready for release in 2022. The Terms of Reference (ToR) for the Reference Group are available here.
