An important role
As School Advisory Councils play an important role in the governance framework of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), a board-approved School Advisory Council Manual is desirable to inform schools of the baseline expectations for all councils operating in MACS schools.
The Manual would include those policies that impact the activities of the School Advisory Council and would be provided to all members of each council as part of their induction.
To ensure that the Manual is practical and speaks of the lived experience in schools and parishes, it would be informed by the work of a reference group comprising principals, priests and parents.
Terms of Reference for the work of the reference group have been written to identify the shared goal.
Expressions of interest in being part of the reference group can be submitted until 23 April 2021.
MACS School Advisory Council Manual
Parish priests and principals of MACS schools are expected to familiarise themselves with the draft School Advisory Council Manual in preparation for feedback submissions to the reference group.
The draft Manual for all MACS schools will be available in Term 2.
It is anticipated that a final School Advisory Council Manual will be ready for release in 2022.
